
ACCOUNTING
A full-year course introducing students to
accounting methods and practices, and the complete accounting cycle
including a brief introduction to computerized accounting. This course is
beneficial to students who: anticipate owning their own business or entering
the business world, or plan on pursuing a business major in college. This
course is also beneficial to anyone who desires to learn how to keep
personal financial records.

COLLEGE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
A full-year course that offers students a
broad overview of modern business organization and operation. Students will
have a hands-on opportunity to explore some of the modern computer software
production and distribution tools used by business. They will become
familiar with the manipulation of data through the use of software programs
for word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and graphics.

KEYBOARDING/COMMUNICATIONS
This is a full-year course designed to develop
"touch keyboarding" skills to the extent that students may use the skill in
their personal lives or as a supportive skill in their jobs. The skills
learned using a computer will be applied to relevant occupational
situations. Communication and time management skills are integrated into
this full year course.

BUSINESS LAW
(Social Studies Department)
This is a full year course designed for
Juniors and Seniors. The course emphasis is on the individual as they
encounter law in their personal, family and occupational life. From the
study of business law, students gain a genuine respect and intelligent
applications for a segment of the law that affects them both at home and
work. Topics include Civil and Criminal Law Contracts, Wills, Employment,
etc. Business Law can be used as a sequence in both Business and Social
Studies or as an elective. Students participate in a Mock Trial with area
schools.

TECH PREP/InVEST
A full-year course that provides students with
the opportunity to acquire concepts and skills essential for working in the
electronic office, regardless of their ultimate career objectives. The
curriculum is designed to give students hands-on experience in performing
word processing and desktop publishing. The teamwork concept and
communication skills are developed through producing The Raider Reporter and
participating in InVEST (Insurance Vocational Education Student Training)
and Tech Prep. Tech Prep provides an opportunity for a learning partnership
between the school, local businesses, and Tompkins Cortland Community
College. Students will share work experiences, create portfolios,
interact with Tech Prep students from other schools, as well as plan,
organize, and run a full-day seminar for area Tech Prep students. Students
taking this course have an opportunity to take TC3 classes at no charge.
